First let’s make it clear that jasmine flavored green tea isn’t herbal tea. Examples of herbal teas: sage, nettle, dandelion, lime, etc. Herbal teas need to be boiled for 3-4 seconds before being left for another 3-5 minutes. Green tea on the other hand is equivalent to unfermented black tea and the method is different. Bring kettle to boil and then wait for 10 seconds before pouring over green tea leaves (or a tea bag). Remove a tea bag after 5 minutes because leaves are ground and tea will be much stronger than its whole leaves variant. In fact you may pour hot water over leaves up to 3 more times (do not do that if you’re using tea bags). In China they sometimes even discard the first pour because it is ment to trigger essential oils release.
